US Senate Rejects Background Checks On Gun Buyers


By a vote of 54 to 46, the Senate defeated the Manchin-Toomey Amendment to S649, the gun legislation bill which Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) introduced last week. The amendment would have expanded background checks for the purchase of firearms as well as create a commission to study the causes of mass violence in the U.S.
